A chronicle of misogyny – Venus Libido

Venus Libido is an illustrator that uses humour and bright colour to present us with dark and upsetting truths about misogyny and harassment.

Her work is a window into the minds of so many women that are trying to balance promoting self love while still needing to confess to the vulnerabilities that they have.

A lot of the work that Venus Libido posts shows this dichotomy that exists in women and the way that it appears in their lives through situations like a perfectly composed selfie but a tumultuous life riddled with mental illness lurking just behind.

The work that the artist produces focuses a lot on mental health and the different manifestations of mental health issues within people’s lives. Most importantly, though, her works shift the way we approach certain ideas and topics and, through being able to laugh, women are able to regain some of the power that is take away from them.
