Westminster MA Menswear course showcased their work in a runway show, which featured a mix of fashionable and functional eye-striking designs.
This year’s graduates, as always, have abandoned all inhibition in favour of a more individual approach to craft. These newest rosters of MA graduates are creating their own style rules and this time more is more.
Some looked to the beauty of the body deconstructing and repurposing hosiery to create masterfully bizarre shapes that accentuate a playful spirit to tailoring; others drew from erotica to challenge the masculinity, the physicality of the body and identity within sportswear- from tailoring to meticulously cut paneling.
University of Westminster MA: reconstruction was rife among these collections.
Flirting with the notion of gender today and the all-encompassing sensitivity of such, the pieces were an utter glorification of diversity. Cropping, cinching, rushing, exaggerated silhouettes adding newfound depth and dimension to eastern inspired pieces; elongated sleeves, concaved breasting.
